Towards the end of 2015, I began to explore collages, moving back to my love of stark designs and strong colours. Some of my small experimental collages are displayed as in the header of this page.
"No More" was made in response to a SAQA exhibition called Diaspora, Stories of Migration. Canadian Geese used to migrate to hotter climes in our winters. Some time in the 1980s, they adapted their life style to remain in Europe all year round. Nowadays, they still flock together in their thousands as the weather gets cold, making the most dreadful noise as they honk. But they don't migrate, they return to their home rivers and canals.
We see hundreds of the geese on the canals and I based this quilt on the head of one of them. The quilt was not entered into the exhibition - rereading the application form, I realised that Diaspora for this exhibition was to apply to people only!!
